Have you achieved some level of competence on your instrument but still have reservations about playing with other people on the fly? Never had a chance to front a band or be part of a real jam session? Want to meet other musical folks who are in the same boat? Jamschool is for you!

In Jamschool camp, the classes will be of limited size and will be intended to make you feel more confident and comfortable in jamming situations, whether electric or acoustic, onstage or at a party. We'll learn the skills needed to figure out songs on the fly, teach other people your songs quickly, and know what to play and when - arranging on the fly, communicating with a rhythm section, taking turns soloing, etc. Our Sunday afternoon student jam will include a pro drummer and bass player and PA system to help make everyone sound good and give you the experience of leading and following along in a real jam situation. This camp is open to students on electric and acoustic guitars, bass, dobro, and mandolin, and limited to twenty students.

COST

Jamschool Camp is $270. This covers all instruction/classes during the weekend and the instructor concert Saturday night. Scholarships that cover all or part of the cost of attending Picknbow are available; please contact Danny Gotham for more details.

If you’re interested in supporting the Picknbow community and our continued outreach to those who may not be able to afford camp, please contact Danny Gotham and join us in contributing to the scholarship fund!

REGISTRATION

Because of the venue size and to keep classes manageable, registration for Jamschool Camp is limited. Please register online and get your full payment in as soon as possible to hold your spot. Registration and payment must be submitted by May 15, 2020.

Picknbow is held at the Old Murphey School, on the Shared Visions campus, in Durham, NC. Click here for a map.
