CHECK OUT OUR GREAT INSTRUCTORS!

Ohmigosh! Rachel Eddy! Joe Newberry! Kari Sickenberger! Jim Watson! Kenny Jackson! FJ Ventre! And to spice things up, Catherine Alderman, Bill Newton, and Julie Elkins! Danny Gotham and Jon Shain are our inimitable leaders and the staff concert on Saturday night - your friends and family are all welcome to come - will be amazing.

COST

Picknbow Music Camp is $285. Almost of all of this goes to pay our instructors and for renting the Murphey School. The rest goes toward our operating costs - all the supplies used during the weekend. As in recent years, you have the option to kick in another $10 and pay $295, which definitely helps cover these expenses. As always, your registration fee gets you all classes Fri-Sun and the instructor concert Saturday night. Scholarships that cover all or part of the cost of attending Picknbow are available; please contact us if you’re interested.

If you’d like to support our Picknbow community and help make camp possible for someone, please contact us and consider contributing to our scholarship fund!

REGISTRATION

Registration and payment can be done online on this website. Because of the venue size and to keep classes manageable, registration for Picknbow is limited. Please register and pay online to hold your spot. If you decide to cancel your registration, you must cancel before Friday, August 15 to get a full refund of your registration fee.  Cancellations after that date, if due to illness or family emergency, may get a partial refund.

LOCATION

Picknbow is held at the Old Murphey School, on the Shared Visions campus, in Durham, NC. Click here for a map. If you’re coming from out of town, please let us know and we can help you find a place to stay

VOLUNTEERING

Helping out with set up on Friday, with other tasks during camp, and then breaking down camp on Sunday makes entire weekend run more smoothly, and it’s a great way to meet other campers. When you register, we hope you’ll select one or two aspects of camp that your schedule and abilities could allow. Thanks!

WHAT TO BRING

You’ll want to bring snacks and beverages, lunch on Saturday and Sunday (or go out nearby). For comfort, plan to bring layers; it can be warm then cool and warm again. Other things to bring:

  • Any and all instruments that you play or want to learn how to play; there’s a piano on site and, if you’re interested in learning bass but don’t own one, there will probably be a spare that you can use.

  • Music accessories such as tuners, spare strings, capos, music stand, instrument stand, etc.

  • Notebook for taking notes in classes, folder/binder for handouts from instructors, pens/pencils.

  • Phone or other recording device (audio and/or video) and a charger, since capturing some of the classes can be helpful in your follow-up practices.

  • Lyrics with chords and songbooks for any music you might want to share or have others play and sing with you.

  • Food, beer and wine for your enjoyment

  • And of course, bring your love of music, enthusiasm, and learning!

WHAT WE PROVIDE ON-SITE

  • Sound system for the instructor and student concerts

  • Coffee, coffeemaker, cups, plates, plasticware, napkins. Feel free to bring some of these to donate for use during the weekend — we can always use more paper towels :-)

  • Refrigerators, microwave, oven

  • Copy machine

  • Basic office supplies - markers, paper clips, stapler, 3-hole punch, post-it notes
